Stop At: Kursky Railway Station, Kursky Vokzal Sq., Moscow 105064 Russia

Meet your guide at the Kursky railway station to take a train to Yasnaya Polyana. This is a chance for you to get ready for a long day and have a quick snack. Your guide will lead you to your train carriage before departing. During the two-hour journey you will see some spectacular Russian countryside scenes and have the opportunity to take a nap to prepare for the busy day ahead.

Your local Tula guide will meet you when you get off the train. Together, we’ll hop into a taxi towards Yasnaya Polyana. During our 40-minute taxi ride, your guide will give you an introduction to the area, discussing its history and regaling you with interesting facts and stories about the locals over the centuries.

Stop At: Kozlova Zaseka Station Museum, Lva Tolstogo St., 1, Tula 300910 Russia

Meet your local guide and visit the station building remodeled in the end of the 19th century style. This place is also known as the last station – from here Leo Tolstoy went on his last journey in 1910 just a few days prior to his death.

Stop At: Museum-estate of Leo Tolstoy, Oktyabrskaya Str., 14, Yasnaya Polyana 300002 Russia

Visit the estate of the great Russian writer and philosopher Leo Tolstoy. Learn about his family history and his life in the estate. Walk through the serene parks and vast apple gardens, have a picnic in a picturesque spot in warm weather. If it’s a colder day, drop by a local café instead, to taste some nice hot tea with local herbs and a piece of pie backed here according to the recipe of Tolstoy’s grandmother.
Visit Tolstoy’s family house which has been preserved since the night of his escape. Visit the grave of this great man and learn about his writings.
Learn about and taste a sample of locally produced honey cookie (Pryanic) and apple bread (Pastila), whipped honey blended with berries and pinecone jam. Get a fresh Pryanic to taste later.

Stop At: Historical Center of the City Tula, Sovetskaya St., Tula Russia

Head to the center to taste some of authentic Russian food. Lepim and Varim café offers Russian dumplings with different fillings (meat, potato, cherries) and some interesting stories and facts about this dish along the way. For dessert have a bite of delicious Pryanic.

Stop At: Lenin Square, Tula Russia

Learn about the history of Tula, take a photo in front of Lenin statue and visit a magnificent Orthodox church which was supposed to be exploded in 1930s but stood its ground and is still there.

Stop At: Tula Kremlin Museum, Mendeleyevskaya St., 8, Tula 300041 Russia

Visit and take a walk inside the oldest construction of the city the 500-year-old Kremlin, learn about its history and some dramatic events that took place there. Visit souvenir shops to buy locally produced crafts and Pryanics to take home as presents. You can mail a post card home right from inside the Kremlin.

Stop At: Tulskaya Embankment, behidn the Kremlin, Tula Russia

Admire the beauty and the great atmosphere of the recently built Kremlin embankment, loved and visited by all locals and guests and learn a little bit about the history of the neighboring 300-year-old gun factory. Go through the maze of small streets in the historical center of Tula, learn about the history of some buildings and admire the oldest operating Orthodox church in town.

To finish off this wonderful day visit the most happening place in Tula – Iskra, built in the place of a former military base, to relax
after a long day, have a cup of coffee or a glass of something
stronger (a number of local coffee shops, craft beer and vine restaurants at your choice). This is the time to ask your local guide whatever else you wanted to know about the life in Tula and in
Russia before you heads off to the train station.
