Meet our guide at Theatre Square at 3pm and explore the very best of Moscow underground. Big groups (10+) are provided with radio guides. This tour’s duration is 90 minutes. The metro ticket is included in the price of the tour, but the guide still explains how and where to get tickets, what the fares are. 

After a short introduction to the busiest metro in Europe you will see the first line of Moscow Metro, that was open in 1935. Moving on a train from station to station, we get off at the award winning platforms of 1930s. Apart from seeing the most beautiful stations and taking photos, tourists will learn the history of Russia’s first metro system, the ideology behind the design and the modern tendencies in the development of the metro.

The architectural styles vary from art deco to neoclassicism as we switch the lines. The group sees the largest and most oppulent stations of the Circle Line, decorated with mosaics, statues, stained glass.

We speak about the metro during the years of the  Second World war, when it was used as bomb shelter by thousands of Muscovites. The tour finishes at Ploshad Revolutsii station, just across the street from where the tour started.
