Start your day with a walking tour of central Moscow. Wander through Red Square – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and hear of the protests that have taken place there.
Stepping onto Red Square never fails to inspire. In old Russian «red» stood for the word „beautiful‟, and the square lives up to the original meaning of its word. The architectural marvels of the St. Basil’s Cathedral and the Museum of History, the grandeur of the Kremlin and the Mausoleum are among the key impressions the Square has to offer.

Stop At: Manezh Square, Near Red Square, Moscow 613310 Russia

Admire the Manezhnaya square.
The name of the area comes from building an arena, built in 1817 in honor of the fifth anniversary of Russia’s victory in the Patriotic War of 1812. It is worth saying that the name «Manezh» appeared only in 1937 after the demolition of standing in this place shopping areas of buildings, separated by a two-lane – patchwork and insatiable. Prior to that, the area was densely built up.

The garden is famous for its architectural monuments, incredibly beautiful flowerbeds and history. It commemorates Russian victories and those that died in war of 1812 with Napoleon and in both World Wars. Highlighted by Kremlin Kutafya Tower is the eternal flame memorial (in memory of the fallen heroes in World War II 1941-1945) and the big fountain with horse sculptures. They were created by popular Moscow architect Zereteli. In hot weather the fountain becomes a water attraction for teenagers.

Take in the beauty of the colourful onion domes of St Basil’s Cathedral – one of the most recognisable buildings in the world and is an iconic symbol of Moscow. A true architectural wonder, the cathedral was commissioned by Ivan the Terrible in the 1500‟s. The building is made up of nine churches connected by a web of narrow corridors; each church is lavishly decorated with intricate frescoes! A common myth is that once the building was complete, Ivan had the architects blinded to be sure that they never build anything as beautiful again.

Built by the imperial architect Konstantin Ton, the museum has a collection that has been growing since 1508, including the imperial crown of Russia, the throne of Ivan the Terrible, and many more.
