The Moscow Hotel, which occupies an entire quarter, became one of the first hotels built in Soviet Moscow. The massive building plays a dominant role in shaping the area immediately adjacent to the Kremlin. “Moscow” is distinguished by complex architectural plastics, designed to coordinate the structure with the neighboring Kremlin and the building of the Historical Museum.

Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Building is one of seven Stalinist skyscrapers laid down in September 1947 and completed in 1952, designed by Dmitry Chechulin (then Chief Architect of Moscow) and Andrei Rostkovsky. The main tower has 32 levels (including mechanical floors) and is 176 metres (577 ft) tall. At the time of construction it was the tallest building in Europe.

Monument to Yuri Gagarin is a 42.5-meter high pedestal and statue of Yuri Gagarin, the first person to travel in space. It is located at Leninsky Prospekt in Moscow. The pedestal is designed to be reminiscent of a rocket exhaust. The statue is made of titanium, a metal often used in spacecraft, and weighs 12 tons.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia main building is one of seven Stalinist skyscrapers, designed and overseen by Vladimir Gelfreykh and Adolf Minkus. The skyscraper has 27 levels and is 172 metres (564 ft) tall. It’s covered by a light external stone wall with projecting pilasters and pylons. The interior is decorated with stones and metals. A metal spire tops the tower’s roof, assimilating its silhouette with those of the other six Sisters.

Smolenskaya Square is a square in the center of Moscow. The Garden Ring crosses the square. Arbat street runs towards it and ends near the Foreign Ministry skyscraper, the main building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. The latter faces Smolenskaya square.

It was the tallest hotel in the world from the time of its construction until the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel opened in Atlanta, Georgia, United States in 1976.

The Central Academic Theatre of the Russian Army is the largest theatre in Moscow. The huge building, dominating the Suvorov Square and scored to resemble a red Soviet star, was constructed between 1934 and 1940. This prime example of the Stalinist architecture was designed by Karo Halabyan and V. Simbirtsev. The auditorium has 1,900 seats.

It is a unique historical and architectural complex that served as the central point of the Soviet ideology, where you can now admire the great scale of architecture and art of the Soviet era. When it was inaugurated, it was on the outskirts of the city, but with the growth of Moscow, its location has become much more centric.
