The Cathedral of Christ the Savior was built in memory of the victory in the war of 1812 in Moscow. The temple was laid in 1839, the construction went on for 44 years and the temple was consecrated in 1883. In 1931, as part of the fight against religion, the temple was blown up by the Soviet government. To the 850th anniversary of Moscow in 1997, the temple was restored.
