Stop At: Lubyanka Square, Moscow 109012 Russia
We’ll start with the KGB headquarters and a monument to the victims of political repressions in the USSR. I’ll bust myths about the main building of the Soviet security agency and show you how Lubyanka Square has changed since 1917. Also, you’ll see where thousands of sentences were passed in the 1930s.

Stop At: Revolution Square (Ploshchad Revolutsii), Ploschad Revolyutsii Close to Red Square, Moscow 109012 Russia
We’ll walk along Teatral’nyy Lane, formerly known as K. Marx Street, to our next stop dedicated to the Russian Revolution. I’ll explain why those events happened and show you where the Bolshevik uprising took place in October 1917. We’ll talk about the historic Metropol Hotel, an Art Nouveau masterpiece and, of course, discuss K. Marx and his influence on our history.

As you take pictures of the world-famous Bolshoi Theater, I’ll explain why it was such an important political spot a hundred years ago. I’ll bring to your attention some remnants of Soviet propaganda.

We’ll continue along Petrovka St. I believe this is the most interesting part of the tour. You’ll discover how common people lived at the time: education, health care, housing, employment and lifestyle. As we walk, I’ll tell you some stories you wouldn’t find in history books and share my family’s experience from the Soviet era. I’ll help you understand why many Russian people feel nostalgic about the old regime.

We’ll stop on Tverskaya St. to talk about Soviet achievements and failures as we look at the stunning City Hall.

This will be our last stop; M. Gorbachev will be our protagonist. We’ll discuss Perestroika, Glasnost and the collapse of the USSR. I’ll tell you how Russians see the last president of the USSR now and what they think about the dissolution of the Soviet Empire.
